Yo! I'm back!
Jan. 26th, 2003 11:39 pmWow. Eventful set of days. I skipped out on deadline ::feels sort of bad but fairly relieved::, and the paper went along ok; Glenn was "still the pickiest," apparently, and so no major disasters (yet) (though Robert and Jessie need to learn page design darnit!)(talk to Z. Also about redesign and most importanly fonts).
I went to Carleton and froze my butt off. Really. And tried to get the flavor of college life while cramming for AcaDec. Fun. Made the best cookies I've ever tasted, with yummy caremel centers and chocolate shortbread type bases. Yum. And saw cute guys. And saw the infamous "volleyball video game;" a. those girls look unnatural; b. all of that bouncing has got to be really uncomfortable; and c. they're ditzes with high-pitched voices. If that game is the future of the male race I'm going to run into some hole and cry. Not to mention I dislike the basic premise of the game.
So anyway. Carleton was cool, and it's still a contender, though Mudd is, too. I don't know where I'll go.
Finished the majority of The Silmarillion. It's good.
Crammed AcaDec poetry like crazy. Wow. But it paid off.
So I came home Friday night. Dozed on the plane; I couldn't sleep since there were some guys who had had a bit too much to drink and were playing some card game really loudly and would occasionally let loose a "Woo hoo!" or a "Yeah!" Last time I fly into the Las Vegas airport on a Super Bowl weekend. Oh, by the way, the Bucs won. Nyah nyah, Isaac and Elliot.
So I got home around 1:30, glued my speech to cards, and showered, getting to bed around 2. Then I got up around 7 and got to the school, we went to the competition. I think I really kicked butt in the essay section. I'd been cramming poetry, and 50 minutes seemed like soooo much time. I hope I did ok on speech and interview but I'll wait to find out. One of my speech judges was a grandmotherly lady who seemed overjoyed at my speech topic. XD
We went to Glenn's and watched The Matrix, a very! good movie. Very, very good. Messes with your mind a bit but in a good way. And now I can get jokes! Wow. Anyway...
Big Wok was fun. Fortune cookies were really fun. (Apparently Paul's co-workers will "appreciate his creativity" and Glenn will "not forget friends' favors." The Fortune Cookie Secret? ( Click here! )
And church was cool, it was good to see people. Went to Bob's bithday party, saw one of the most pointless movies I've ever seen (if I'd been by myself I might have just left; I really didn't care about the story. But it was a party, and it wasn't like it was torture or anything, and it was for Bob. I just didn't really like it), and read sexy cheese novels. So it was a good day.
I'll write about the rest later.
